Haiti: A Third World Tragedy, you can help

Most people who have the internet will know about Haiti. My Eyes read over countless lines of stories of mayhem, disaster and sadness. Being 5000 miles away sitting in my comfortable chair at work its hard to imagine what it must be like sweeping the rubble for a hope or a whisper of Family members, friends , teachers and neighbors all leveled by the massive earthquake. I cant even imagine what it must be like being there or worse waiting to hear from abroad news of loved ones survival or not.

With a population of close to a million living in close quarter structures that resemble nothing more than 4 walls of metal strips holding it up the earthquake ripped through the port town and left no prisoners.

Aid seems to be slowly trickling in and I wanted to implore all The Blind View readers to donate whatever you can to an organization that is trying to help out in this area. I know I know donating especially online is not one of our strong points, I will be the first to admit that this is the first online donation I ever gave and it was a little daunting at first, but after reading all the stories I felt it a necessity to do it. My mind wonders at how easily that could have been our country and if it was I would hope that generous people like yourselves would donate to organizations helping us out.

A number of reputable organizations are the following:

Yéle Haiti

The International Rescue Committee

UNICEF

The American Red Cross

Save the Children

I used the Yele Haiti one which is Wyclef Jeans charity organization, they seem to have a good grasp of what’s going on as they have been in Haiti for a number of years now and have the groundwork to really help.

Guys and girls your donations now do help. There is not only the search and rescue that is going on but the aftermath reconstruction is going to cost billions of dollars to try and bring some sort of normality to this area and country.

The donation process is very easy and it accepts all sorts of cards including South African ones. Please take the time and help where you can.

If you want to see the latest from what’s going on I have found these stories really interesting
